We Are Just Kids

We are all still just kids.  We are a part of a strange club. We are all kids making up for the missing induction ceremony of growing up.

Why don’t people realize that they can simply choose to be happy - that they don’t have to force themselves into such dysphoric compromise. Just CHOOSE to be happy, dammit! There is no point in being ugly or violent. There is no excuse for putting forth such unnecessary effort and energy, especially towards something you don’t like. Why is it worth it to say or do something ugly? The history of the world can be summed up as just People telling other People what to do. That’s it. That’s us in a nutshell. Our society is nothing more than the bricks of our buildings, and it is all held together by a thread. It’s not fair - not to us who have it figured out. Why do we have to wallow because everyone else is too scared to stop being monkeys. Take command of yourself, create something, master your world. That is what makes us human - that was the defining spark that set us apart from our animal counterparts. We make tools, and we take command of our enviornment, instead of the other way around. Life has been evolving for billions of years at the mercy of its environment. Finally a lifeform is able to reach the pinnacle of this billion-year battle, and transcend it. But we are ruining it. It’s like what Jim Morrison said, this world is a “shithouse” and it’s going “up in flames”. This ability to command our fates is probably the most beautiful aspect of humanity, not to mention our most intensely intrinsic human trait. What are you doing with it? Are you going to make yourself into a man/woman? Or are you going to be a monkey, throwing shit at everyone else?
